Owning a pet may face many issues, such as management of pet waste. Canine faeces often contain micro organisms that is harmful to animals and people. Some of the most affected areas of dogs defecating in public space is the dog parks, streets and beaches.
The DooLiper is a new innovation that is original in concept due to the unique way of removing faeces after every use. Currently in Australia, maintaining dog wastes in public areas could improve by encouraging and providing pet owners the incentive to clean up after their pet. One of the main discouragement of picking pet waste is the fact that pet owners need to bend down and pick up the waste. The DooLiper system is a world-first mechanical device that removes waste after every use, minimises the physical contact with faeces for pet owners but also allowing for wastes to be collected and held for weekly maintenance and cleaning.
The DooLiper device is designed as a standalone device. The overall form of the device is circular to give it a coherent and united feel of the device as the device is a collection of many moving mechanical parts while each have its own unique purpose.
The device is designed for dogs, human users and also the maintenance personnel. The ergonomics has been incorporated into the design to maximum practicality such as the height of the back foot pedal, height of the overall device and angles of the side ramps. The steps that are required to use the device are simple and intuitive. The safety of this project has been designed to take into account to minimize any potential accidents.
The DooLiper device can be described as an automated mechanical device that require minimal power to function, while at the same time does not require pet owners to bend down and pick up the waste. Additional powering such as water and electricity are not needed, therefore making the DooLiper device a sustainable alternative.
