Design a remote control vacuum cleaner for ABSOLUT VODKA.
Design a tape dispenser for a Zoo Keeper.
Design a light out of paper?
Design a furniture piece…a ceramic vase…an aluminium fruit bowl if you please.
Industrial design is random, I know.
Industrial design is everything…products, objects, furniture, appliances…the list is endless, so please fill in the blanks in the imaginary row.
PU, TPE, PE, PET, PP and ABS…what’s a polymer that you know?
Injection molding, rotational molding, laser cutting, rapid prototyping…I’ll just keep rhyming
Pick up your bank pad, or bleed proof if you prefer, start sketching in perspective and off designing you go.
The pantone at the ready or the solid works render…photo view, might be the way to go.
Front plane, right plane, top plane…where to start my sketch?
Should I do a surface sweep and thicken it, or a thin extrude…terms only an industrial designer would conclude.
A radius here a fillet there…make drawing from part…an orthographic view or two.
Eyes locked on the computer, twenty million programs open at once, Illustrator, Photoshop, SoildWorks, Face book, InDesign…can you name some more?
Make a model you say…but how? On the lathe, the band saw, the disc sander…spray paint booth…zap a gap, putty…the workshop is your oyster.
Design is all encompassing…always on your mind…in your dreams. Design is everywhere…it’s a passion that we share.
Industrial design is awesome, I know. Not many people can say that they do what we do. Can you?
