Injection Moulding Tool Construction Videos!

RPM International placed some pretty cool injection moulding tool making videos on Youtube. Rhetoric and sales pitches aside I think the videos are quite fascinating to watch and they reveal a critical aspect of product manufacturing that we often say ” we will let the manufacturers worry about it.” For me the videos show the painstaking labour and precision that goes into injection moulding tools and has made me rethink my strategy when designing plastic components. How can I make these tools easier to construct? How can I make this tooling cheaper for my business too purchase through good design practises?

I’m currently researching prototyping methods and its importance in product development. Prototyping is very important because this is the realization of all the concepts and ideas into a solid and material form. I’ve been reading a lot about injection molding, and it’s indeed interesting how this is done. Along with solutions like product development outsourcing and prototype outsourcing which further help product developers, prototyping and manufacturing are taken to the next level.
