The sixth edition of the Marksman Design Award (2007 – 2008) challenged young design students to ‘Design the perfect pen’. In this digital age, where the keyboard dominates our working lives, it’s encouraging that writing implements remain the most popular business gifts.

The competition attracted 386 entries from 264 colleges and universities in 54 countries, an absolute record for the Marksman Design Award. The quality of the entries was once again superlative, and many are worthy for inclusion in the Marksman Collection. The jury who selected the first, second and third prizewinners plus five others entries for an honorable mention, were unaware of the country of origin, gender, college or university of entered designs. The eight winning entries all come from students in Europe and the USA the first time for the competition.
